I'm just glad that there's actually some competition. If not for Microsoft, the PS3 would be a piece of crap. It's just how capitolism works. Without competition, thing degrade.
Now, I'm personally not buying either an Xbox or PS3. If I feel like pouring money into something, my computer has always been a willing money pit.

You know, on newegg.com you can snag two 256 7800 nVidias that are SLI ready for $300 each o.o; It's what I'm doing this year. Gettin' into high gear with the SLI

---> To anyone who says the 360 Graphics suck.... Please. The 360 is, at the least, as powerful as any top-end PC out there. Unless you want to spend 10x as much on an Alienware. You have nothing to back up the 360's graphics not being good; you obviously haven't played Project Gotham 3, which hasn't even TOUCHED the 360's potential. Look at screenshots of Gears of War, all of you. If those aren't amazing graphics, I don't know what is.

--> Echosex, you're a moron. I don't think PC's even had half the potential as the 360 in '98. OBVIOUSLY you're being sarcastic...

--> The shortage isn't planned. Microsoft wanted to get the system out before Xmas, at the expense of supply. I waited in line next to a 40 year old mother all night who was only buying the system for her son because he wanted it for Xmas. Microsoft is damned smart, but if they could be selling more systems and making more money, they would. They could quadruple thier Holiday '05 income if they had enough systems, but they're taking what they can get.

--> Tell me, PS3 fanboys, what "killer app" did PS2 have? GTA? Metal Gear? Games are games. To say Xbox has crappy games, when the majority of them will be multi-platform, is bogus. M$ has MasterChief. Who does Sony have, Crash Bandicoot? Sony's never had a killer app that people JUST buy PlayStations for. Half of the Xboxes woudln'tve been sold if it wasnt for Halo.

** You Xbox haters are trying to tell us the graphics suck, the games suck, and the company sucks. Isn't it obvious the graphics are ahead of thier time, Xbox has as good of games as anyone else, and M$ has done exactly what they wanted. You've read it in the articles. GROWN MEN AND WOMEN are humiliating themselves by waiting in line overnight in the cold for a machine that will be available in 3 months. M$ is singlehandedely turning this country into a "I need it now!" society!! And "It" just happens to be thier product.

I aplaud you, Microsoft, but why'd I have to buy a deffective system!?

what he and I meant earlier about the specs, is the stuff u can do with it, not nerdy shit, what ur talking about... OOO 5.4 GHZ!! U SERIOUS?!?! who gives a shit

When someone states you're wrong and claims the power if the machine is higher without even knowing what they're talking about, yeah, you give a shit - that just makes you a dumbass.

Custom IBM PowerPC-based CPU:
# 3 symmetrical cores running at 3.2 GHz each
# 2 hardware threads per core; 6 hardware threads total
# 1 VMX-128 vector unit per core; 3 total
# 128 VMX-128 registers per hardware thread
# 3 symmetrical cores running at 3.2 GHz each
# 1 MB L2 cache

CPU Game Math Performance:
# 9 billion dot product operations per second

Custom ATI Graphics Processor:
# 500 MHz
# 10 MB embedded DRAM
# 48-way parallel floating-point dynamically-scheduled shader pipelines
# Unified shader architecture

Polygon Performance:
# 500 million triangles per second

Pixel Fill Rate:
# 16 gigasamples per second fillrate using 4X MSAA

Shader Performance:
# 48 billion shader operations per second

Memory:
# 512 MB GDDR3 RAM
# 700 MHz DDR
# Unified memory architecture

Memory Bandwidth:
# 22.4 GB/s memory interface bus bandwidth
# 256 GB/s memory bandwidth to EDRAM
# 21.6 GB/s front-side bus

Overall System Floating-Point Performance:
# 1 TFLOP

Well no shyt, EchoSex.

But the 360 doesnt need to be having all these other applications running behind it. A computer's using alot of it's processor doing other things when you're playing a game. It's system memory isn't entirely dedicated to the game you're playing when you play it.

If you've ever played a 360, you'd know that you'd need a DAMNED powerful system to do what the 360's doing. You think a PC with the 360's specs could handle Call of Duty 2? No. The 360 handles it without problems though, and isn't even close to it's potential.

Show me a computer that can handle Gears of War with only 512 MB of System Memory. And on top of it, the 360's got THREE cores running at 3.2 GHz each.

"If that was a PC, it would probably be a mid-ranged eMachines or DELL at best."

Exactly. Then why do you think the 360 can handle all of it's games so flawlessly? If the entire system is dedicated solely to playing the game, that's how.

Hmm, how much would that cost? around $1100 im guessing, now i will find the "Specs" of the 360 from the site, since i cant memorize it like u can and edit this post, if u can find a site that has that exact comp, or better for less then $400, ill be quiet, but the site cannot be a 3rd party, or used/refurbished. K i found it and ill add it- Xbox 360 Console
Custom, symmetrical, three-core CPU, each running at 3.2GHz; 500MHz ATI graphics processor; 512MB memory; built-in wireless

I'm surpised if you even know what you mean when you say three cores. A server can run a quad processing unit with Xeon Pentiums (Althought I hate Pentium) or AMD 64 FXs which will more than tenfold the clocks on any Xbox. Backround applications can EASILY be completely shut down - you can hot key your damn OS to turn off with freeware if you really want to. And running a game like that with 512 ram? Easily done - RAM has nothing to do with it, it's graphical data from your graphics cards that supports the graphics, resolution, frame-rate and so forth. Only thing the RAM is going to do is speed up your load times.

Even if I don't have the technical mumbo jumbo memorized like you, your argument is still lacking...

You're trying to tell us the 360's graphics aren't good... or the machine is weak... or something bogus.... I doubt, then, that you've even seen this thing in action. I don't know what you're trying to prove....

Unless you're lazy to look back or have the memory span of a gold fish, I stated many a time that I've seen the demos, I've PLAYED the thing at Walmart and EB, and have read about them many a time in EGM. The frames sluggish at best: 30 FPS? Ever notice how the first HALO can get slow or even cause motion sickness at times? That's the low frames combined with a low resolution. It causes everything to move in a slow motion kind of state. Of course, if you put frames up too much, you might get motion sickness from that, since it'll be way too smooth.

I don't see how it's lacking: I said the system's specs don't even come close to a gaming PC: I showed you the specs, and it's true: they don't. Espcially in the graphic's department. That card has a very slow clock to it, and not a lot of room for the data to be cashed.

Ones with the same specs as the new Xbox? $300/400 for a package deal of monitor, mouse, keyboard, tower and software bundle.

If you wanna quad the power of an Xbox 360, just add another $100 for a graphics card update. And I don't mean double, I don't mean triple. QUAD. $400/500, about the same as an xbox with games, controllers and all that othercrap you need (Hard drive). Then concider a computer can be used for just about anything digital. (Or physical, if you have a Mac. Paperweights.)

Now, obviously if you go out for something overpriced like an Alienware, you'll pay out your ass - but you get what you pay for, half the time. The machines that are in the high price ranges often have resources and precessing power you'll never need for the next year or so. Example: I'm paying a good sum of cash to update to SLI - I don't NEED it now, but the next 3 years are going to have some resource hungry games. Withen those years, I'm sure a new Xbox'll come out, or more stuff for it will come out that will be just as expensive.
